FAMILY: Eternal GOD, Guardian of our lives, we confess that we are children of dust, unworthy of your gracious care. We have not always loved as we ought, we may not have lived every precept; Our prayer is that you grant us this day and forgive our sins. Cleanse and guide and until we are raised anew, Amen.
ROCHELLE MARCELLA CHAMBERS-ROBINSON
was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the parents of the late Edward and Ruby Chambers, sister to Edward Watt Chambers and Granddaughter to the late James and Willie Ann Richardson-Redman. Rochelle, affectionally known as “Sissy” graduated from Schenley High School in 1964 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri.
Sissy at an early age of 4, began her career under the dining room table where she and her cousin, Marlene cut each other’s hair with baby scissors. (This was an on-going story between the two that was told to anyone who would listen.) Yet, consequently, this experience sparked enough joy and vision to catapult Sissy into a successful career in the business of beauty. Sissy went on to own and operate several beauty salons across Pittsburgh and taught her daughter, Tanail ‘Lee’ Robinson-Boyd the craft until she owned her own business. Throughout her life, Sissy won many beauty awards and travelled to hair shows across the east coast. In the early 1980’s, Sissy appeared in an article in the New Pittsburgh Courier for her accomplishments. The happiest times of her later years was devoted to new and inventive color creations to highlight her talents and make her clients shineand she fashioned her own hair products. Sissy will be sorely missed by those whose lives she had touched and whom loved her.
