Obituary

Robert Taylor Martin Sr.

Robert Taylor Martin Sr. was born in Martinsville Virginia on April 23, 1938, to the late John Allen Martin and the late Sallie Webster.

Robert attended various elementary schools and Westinghouse High School.

On January 5, 1957 he married Rosa May Dixon and from that union they brought forth three (3) children: Sheila (husband Lewis), Robert Jr. Joseph Sr. (fiancee Aleta); four (4) grandchildren: Diana, LaTisha (husband Damion) and Nysair.

Robert was a devoted family man.  He enjoyed attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.  He also loved various hobbies such as fishing, playing horseshoe, watching western movies, grilling, repairing things around the house and starting projects but never completing them.

In 1960, Robert started working at Bell Stern Furniture Store as a truck driver delivering furniture.  Then Robert moved on to work at Marcy State Hospital in the dietary department.  From there he went to work at Woodville State Hospital, retiring from Mayview State Hospital in 2010.  He was comforted by Jehovah's Promise of Everlasting Life in Paradise on Earth.

He is survived by his wife Rosa, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brothers: Tim and Charles of Martinsville, Virginia; his sisters; Peggy of Washington DC and Ann of Martinsville, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Preceded in death, his brother: Johnny, Sammie, Walter, Lewis, Donald and James.
