Robert Jones Obituary

Robert Jones was born in Bolivar County, Mississippi to Ella McAlister and Robert Jones on October 6, 1929.  Robert had one sibling, Odell McAlister, who he loved dearly and unconditionally.  Robert was called to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 4, 2018.

Robert Lee Jones was born and raised as a Christian at an early age.  His upbringing from his mother and father led him to be a very respectful man.  He always addressed his parents with respect by saying, Yes Sir, and Yes Ma’am. He loved praising the gospel and attending church.  His passion was singing in the church choir.  God blessed and anointed Robert with an angelic voice which led him to sing with two very successful Gospel groups, The Gospel Lites and the Flying Clouds. In 1950, Robert met the love of his life, Willie Mae Baker, in Shaw Mississippi and moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Their love and union blossomed and resulted in 8 beautiful children.

Robert Jones was a true believer in the word of God and ensured his wife and family attended church every Sunday.  His joy for music continued to bless our family by singing at family gatherings, weddings, funerals, and social functions. He believed in his family being well-dressed including his-self. We will always remember Robert’s performances, Robert would be clean from head to toe.  His hair was always well done and processed and his shoes spit-shined.  Robert was very handsome and always looked dapper in his suits.

Robert had strong work ethics and determination.  He worked hard every day and was blessed with several jobs in construction and bricklaying.  He also drove for Cresent Supply Company to support his family. In his journey through life, he was a prominent and well-respected man.  Everyone enjoyed his company and cooking.  Bobby Jones was a great cook and would make a delicious peach cobbler (which had to be eaten with French Vanilla ice cream!!!)

With open arms his wife, Willie Mae, his mother, Ella, his father, Robert, his brother, Odell, his sister in law, Millie, nephew Hasting, and (5) of his children, Eddie, Charles, Johnny, Emma, Larry and son in law, Danny will welcome him into the Kingdom of God.

Leaving to cherish all of his unforgettable memories are his children, Bobby Lee Jones, Jr., Josephine Jackson and Aaron Jones (Blair), Marvin (Danielle) Ferguson, Darlene Ferguson, his brother in law, Edward Lawson, his favorite nephews, Norman Lawson, Limuel Lawson, and Thomas Lawson, cousin, Ruby Patterson, his son in law, Richard Mason, and (21) grandchildren: Robert (Gretchen) Jones, Eddie Jr. (Kim) Jones, Willie Mae (Gregory) White, Terence (Julianne) Starr, Daniel (Tasha) Jackson, Lamont Cross, Danielle Jackson, Alvin (Briann)Jones, Robert Jones, Loramie Jones, Rosalee Jones, John Robert (Keshia) Jones, Taneya Jones, Brandon Jones, DeVonne Jones, Tyrone Jones, Tyson Blair, Taylor Blair, and Zachary Blair, (41) great grandchildren: Algenia Williams, NeShaune Williams, Serenity Balliere, Alyssa Williams, Jaqua Starr, Elijah Jackson, Heaven Ashley-Jackson, Damon Boyd, Peyton Blair, Kevin White, Montaya Cross, Monique Cross, Maiyah Cross, Tracy Cross, Carmen Jackson, Keon Jackson, Cierra Jones, Ziair Jones, Ra’ Xiana Jones, Jordyn Jones, Robert Jones, Jr., Nicole Diggs, Dawnae Jones, Deja Lawrence, Dwight Starr, Tanezia Starr, Tashaya Starr,Daquan Starr, Dezhia Starr, Terence Starr, Jr., Tiona Starr, Lyn Starr, Tevin Starr, Tevina Starr, Brooke Starr, Dylan Starr, Taylor Starr, Josh Jones, Jaden Jones, Joseph Jones, and Marissa Jones, and (7) great-great grandchildren, Kamia Jackson, Laniyah Starr, Jai’ceon Starr, Isaiah Starr, Terence Starr III, Aminah Starr, and Draya Beasley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
