OBITUARY
Michael Robert Kenley was born on June 12, 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Avis Walker and Ottaway Kenley.
He attended the Penn Hills School District and shortly after graduation Michael worked for the Bell Telephone Corporation. Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force and after being honorably discharged he began working for the Veteran Hospital where his mother the love of his life was also employed.
With a love of travel, Michael made San Juan, Puerto Rico USA his home. Inquisitive and playful, Michael never lived in the shadows but was gifted with the ability to draw in those around him with quick wit and suave faire. Michael's tall stature of 6' 4' required that most look up to him while never becoming condescending. He relished in his uniqueness as belonging to a family with two sets of twins.
While living in Puerto Rico he enjoyed being a part of the Cooking Club where he loved to teach cooking. Michael was a creative dancer and moving to music was his passion. In 1963, his dancing opened the door for him to perform on the television show American Band Stand. He was chosen for his fast dancing with his friend of many years Gloria Long. Michael was truly the Life of every party.
On July 4, 2019, Michael departed this life for life eternal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avis Walker and Ottaway Kenley and brothers, Butch Kenley and Gary Kenley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three sons, Daniel Wilson of SC, Mike Wilson of Atlanta, GA, and Christopher (Chrissy) Wilson of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Kalexia, Shakayia, and James C. L. Wilson Jr.; siblings, Saundra Truss of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Martin (Michael’s Twin) of Guatemala, Janet (Donald) Irvin of Pittsburgh, PA, William Kenley of Pittsburgh, PA, Dorothy Stubbs, and twin brother, Donald Kenely both of Pittsburgh, PA, and brother, Tony Kenley of Detroit, MI; extended family Missy Parker and Kayla Dobozy of New Castle, Pa; Selinda and Natasha Talley of New Castle, PA; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
