Leroy "George" Miles, was born on January 25, 1934, in the city of Pittsburgh, PA to mother, Viola sessions and father Sandy Miles. He was their only child. He received his education in the Pittsburgh Public School system and afterwards enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Italy and was awarded the rank of Sergeant. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the United States and worked in the construction field. He would soon after become an independent businessman, making many friends along the way. He was married to the late Ruby Brooks in the 1950's from which two of his children were born. He later married Alice Thompson and remained devoted to her until her death in 2014. Known mostly by his nickname "George", he loved visiting flea markets every Sunday, attending movies, riding motorcycles and traveling. He and his wife, Alice, frequently drove across the country, often recording their adventures. George passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11 at the V A Hospital with his daughter Sherry, at his side. George is survived by his children Leroy Miles, Jr., Sherry Miles, Christopher (Angela) Huffman; stepchildren, Armitha Spencer, Johnnie Rains, Thomas Rains and OBryant Owens; sister-in-law Marilyn Haley; brother-in-law William Thompson; special niece Mary Drawn, special nephews, Ronald (Doris) Wingfield, Anthony Haley and Edward (Lisa) Brown, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife Alice, son Anthony, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Herman and Beatrice Drawn.
