Joe’s Journey of Life

Joseph Lavant Moore was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Willia B. Moore and the late Isaac Jackson.  Joe was born the fifth of seven children.
Joe received his education through the Pittsburgh Public School System.  After attending Westinghouse High School Joe began a career in construction as a laborer.  Joe was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America and initially retired after 35 years of faithful service in 2008.  Joe later returned to work an additional couple of years.   After retirement, Joe continued as an active and proud member of the local union chapter 1058.
Joe enjoyed the early years of his life and growing to manhood in the Homewood-Brushton community.  He carried the lasting nickname “Joe Moe” amongst his many friends.  Joe later migrated to the Wilkinsburg community where he remained throughout.  Joe was joined in marriage on October 26, 1996 to his late and passing wife, Berdina Q. Harrison-Moore, “Dee”.
Joe was a humble and gentle man who always looked after his siblings, family and friends.  Joe was a helper, giver and protector of all along his journey.  Joe enjoyed the hobbies of fishing, weight-lifting and car racing.  Joe was most proud of his fondness for car’s and their mechanics.  Joe was the family mechanic.
Joe touched many lives and everyone will miss him immensely.
Joe found eternal peace on Saturday, October 10, 2015 and leaves to cherish his memory:
mother-Willia B. Moore, siblings and spouses- Betty Hunt, Charles Moore-spouse Christine, Eugenia Moore Sheriff-spouse Ahmed, Margaret Wood-Rodney,  Robert Moore-spouse Sheila, Tamara Crawford-spouse Clifford and many relatives and friends.  Proceeded in death by wife-Berdina Q. Harrison Moore, father-Isaac Jackson, brother-in-law- William F. (Frankie) Hunt.
