Geraldine V. Miller was born on Sunday, November 9, 1930 to the union of Edward and Dorothy Pannell.
On Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 12:40 am, in the Manor Care Health Services Facility in Pittsburgh, PA, Geraldine V. Miller went home to be with the Lord.
Sister Gere is going to be missed by all who knew & loved her...
But we can't think of her as being gone, because
memories of her will be with us always
and some day, we will join her
in the heavenly realm with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Geraldine V. Miller, known to friends as "sister Gere" passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 7th. She was 87 years old.
Geraldine grew up on the Hill District with her parents Dorothy and Edward Pannell. Her parents separated and she moved with her mother to Philadelphia at 15 years old. She attended West Philly High School for a while, then went into house work and took care of Helen Robeson's children.
She moved again with her mother to New York City at 18 years old and back to Pittsburgh after her grandfather died.
She worked at Kauffman's and Joseph Horne's for 23 years, until a disabling injury. She also cared for her beloved grandmother for 10 years in her home. She cared for her with great love and affection and often talked about this period in her life.
Her marriage to John Miller, who is deceased ended in separation and did not produce any children.
Geraldine's greatest love of all was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved to talk about the Lord with her friends and Psalm 91 wa her favorite scripture.
She would say God's been goo to her for letting her live to be 87 years old.
She will also be remembered for her generosity to all her friends and to anyone who needed help.
She is survived by friends who loved and cared for her over the years, Jim and Tracy Partridge, Cecil and Rue Watkins, Charlette and Ken Horton, Frances Wilkes, Mrs. Frances Butts, Members of Baptist Temple Church and many other friends.
