George Cook Obituary


George W. Cook was born on July 16, 1924, in Donora, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late George and Mary Jane Cook.
He attended the Donora School District. After graduation George enlisted in the United States Armed Forces where he served in World War II from 1943-1946.
George me and married Virginia M. Cook in 1960. To this union one son, Mark W. Cook was born.
George was employed at the Cleveland Ohio Steel Mill. Upon retiring from the steel mill, George decided to return to school and received his nursing degree and work for UPMC. After retiring from that position he continued to work at the AIM Security Systems as a security guard.
George enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. George was a member of the American Legion Post 351 in Verona, Pa and was also the Elk Honor for the East Liberty Elks.
On June 26, 2019 George departed this life for life eternal. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Andrew, Joey, Jack, and Sherman Cook and sisters Dorothy Coles, Mary Lawson, Anita Cook, Ruby Crowley, Ruth Stamper and Addie Witiner.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 59 years Virginia M. Cook; son, Mark Cook; daughters, Rhonda Aikor, Cheryl Kinds, and Michelle McDonald; brothers, Robert Cook, Robert Fears, Hosie Cook, Elton Cook, and Williams Cook; sisters- in-law, Marilyn Cook, Leola Cook, Liz Hill, Lil Hendricks, Beatrice Saunders, Ruth Jones, Norma Dothard, Carol Huff, Beverly Saverly, Joanne Dothard, Sabreen Aquil, Karen Dothard, and Anna Scott; brothers-in-law, Amon Dothard, Walter Dothard, Abbos Aquill, Bruce Saverly, and Michael Scott; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; three special nieces that spent many hours assisting in the care of their Uncle George, Dava Cook, Marquita Abbott, and Pam Abbott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
