Frances Idellia Houstler was born in Library, Pennsylvania, October 23, 1937. She was the daughter of General Smith and Julia Mae Houstler. She attended Fifth Avenue High School, continued her education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She was employed in that capacity at Negley House until she became disabled. Frances met and married Ernest James Reed in 1959. They became the parents of 8 children: Reggie, Garrick, Darlene, Donna, Debra, Ernest, Deneen, and Shareka. Frances enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, having cookouts, traveling and a good game of Bingo. She also loved to cook Sunday dinners, especially soul food. Mother Houstler was a worshipper who enjoyed reading the Bible and fellowshipping with the saints. On July 16, 2017 she committed her life to Jesus Christ and joined Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. She proudly proclaimed how she loved the preaching of her pastor Bishop Loran E. Mann. On Tuesday, September 25, 2018 Mother Houstler traded time for eternal rest in the presence of our Lord and Savior. She leaves a devoted family including her children: Reggie Reed, Garrick Reed, Darlene Ingraham, Donna Richbourg, Debra Reed, Ernest (Margaret) Reed, Deneen Reed, and Shareka Houstler; siblings: Carol Ann, Billy, Jean, Wanda, Patricia, Susie, and Major; 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
