Ernest Jackson Obituary

Ernest Jackson, Sr. was born to the late Eddie Jackson and Josie (Madden) Jackson in the hills of Smith Station, Alabama on April 10, 1934.  He was the sixth child born of eleven to this union.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Eddie and Josie and four siblings; Aaron Jackson, Sr., Minnie Ruth Thompson, Joseph Jackson and Earl Jackson.

Ernest's parents journeyed to Pittsburgh, PA to start a new life and settled on the Northside, later moved to the Hill District where they became known as the Jacksons from Milwaukee Street.  Ernest was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System.  At age 21, he married the late Catherine Williams and from this union three daughters Darlene, Darcel and Dorena were born.

As time moved on, so did Ernest and he met and fell in love with Beverly Jean Ross, they married and were blessed with two children Ernest Jr. and Tiffany E. August, 1972 was the happiest year of Ernest's life because he had finally caught up to his brothers and had a son that he could call his own.  Even though Ernest loved all of his children, he was so proud to have a son to name Junior.

Ernest had another love in his life besides his wife Beverly of 45 years in marriage; he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ more than anything.  At an early age Ernest was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church under the late Rev. B.B. Mason; later joined Christ Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. James E. Slaughter and served under the leadership of Rev. Marshall Davis, the late Rev. Billie Moten and the present Pastor, Rev. Gerald Smith, Jr.  He was a faithful servant in the Male Chorus, Men's Fellowship Ministry and the Ushers Ministry until his health began to fail him in April 2018.

Ernest worked for 25 years at Braunlich-Roessele Electric Repair and later at the Giant eagle Market (East Hills0 until he retired at the tender age of 80.  And on Saturday, March 2, 2019, Ernest quietly slipped into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted wife, Beverly Jean (Ross) Jackson. Five children: Darlene Y. Boyd (Anthony), Darcel E. Flint, Dorena E. Jackson, Ernest Jackson, Jr. (Cynthia) all of Pgh, PA.  Tiffany E. Nobles (Douglas) of Columbus, Ohio.  Three brothers and (3) sisters: James E. Jackson, Sr. (Geraldine) of Detroit, MI, Willa Mae Germany, Sarah E. Morris, Janis Handley and Melvin Jackson, Sr. all of Pgh, PA.  John Jackson, Sr. (Theresa) of Detroit, MI.  He leaves (1) Aunt; Mrs. Mary Madden, (11) grandchildren, (10) great-grandchildren, (3) brother-in-laws, (6) sister-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  For this we say, "To God be the glory" for the life of Mr. Ernest Jackson, Sr.
