Erma M. Pullie, daughter of the late William and Gladys M.Gibson was born April 5, 1943. She was raised by the late Walter Johnson who loved her as his own. Erma , a woman of
pride, was protective, strong, and loving. She used her voice to defend, discipline,, protect and encourage. As her health declined , she didn't hesitate to share, listen, laugh, and give
wisdom.
As a young mother having 5 children to care for Erma worked as a caregiver and later became a housekeeper at the Omni William Penn Hotel. Having 25 years of service with them and
being a diligent employee earned her promotion and respect which lead her becoming the Lead Shop Stewardess in Union Local 57, Where she represented and defended the rights of
her co-workers. She never lost a battle and held this position for 18 years.
Erma rubbed shoulders with VIP's and literally got a shoulder rub by President Barack Obama, took a picture with President George W. Bush Jr. and greeted many other celebrities.
Stern yet gentle, Erma connected with her community, co-workers and formed lifelong relationships.
With 4 sons and one daughter life had it's ups and downs but she never gave up. She had special bond with her sons, totally unconditional, and a Ruth and Naomi bond with her only
daughter, steadfast relationship that had battles, laughs, gains, and losses but always together. A mother/daughter relationship that was epic. Her daughter Tonya stood beside her through
it all, and at her last moments as Erma was surrounded by loved ones holding her hand as she held on to the baby doll her great-granddaughter gifted her with. On January 3rd 2020
at 3:0 3 a.m. she passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home.
Preceding her in death were her parents William and Gladys Gibson, step-father Walter Johnson, husband John Pullie, eldest son Lamont Collier (Tuffy), youngest son Charles
Collier (Buggy), and her granddaughter LaKeisha Collier.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Curtis (Curty) and Shawn (NuNu) and her daughter Tonya (Poonie) Collier. Stepchildren John Davenport, Martine and Sheri Nelson and her
sister. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and friends.
