Edna Mason Obituary

Doris begans life journey on October 4, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the eldest of two daughters born to the late Dora Haynes McClellan Croumbles and the late Theodore(Teddy) McClellan. After Teddy's death when the sisters were quite young, her mother Dora and her second husband David Croumbles raised blended family comprised of Doris ad Betty McClellan , and the Croumbles siblings: John, Davis, and Gladys. Their family never abided by the "step" attribution--- they were all just family.

Doris attended school in the Pittsburgh Public School system and graduated in 1955 from Peabody High School. Her career included work as a medical assistant and administrative assistant in the church, medical and business fields. She was an active member of St Paul Baptist Church as a youth and adult where she participated in the choirs and the usher board for many years. She loved to sew and was the seamstress for the choir and caretaker of the decor in the church. Doris's love of decor and sewing was evident in the stylish draperies that she artfully hand made from her home and the formal gowns that she expertly crafted for family members. She enjoyed an active social life attending plays and musicals, traveling , reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Edna Doris McClellan married her long time beau, Harold Brown Mason, at St. Paul Baptist Church on November 17, 1962. The Masons were determined to have a family and from this union their Daughter Dana Cheryl Mason was born. Doris was a loving and caring wife and mother who was involved in supporting her daughter's activities and hosting family and friends in her home.
