Danita Hicks

Danita Lillian Hicks was born April 11, 1957 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of four siblings (George, Gwynnevere (Gwynn), Elliott (El) born to George C Hicks and the late Clara Hicks. Danita was affectionately known as “ Nita” to family and friends was educated in the Pittsburgh public school system of Westinghouse High school resulting in obtaining her GED allowing her to continue her education at the Western school of health and business careers where she graduated as a medical secretary in 1984. She worked at the Allegheny county Court House in the juvenile and family children’s room known as NCJW ( National Council of Jewish Women) where she supervised children from the late 90’s to 2009. She was kindhearted and loving. she was a great mother and grandmother there was no limit to the things she would do for her kids and grandkids. She lived life for her family and if there was ever need where she could help she wouldn’t hesitate to do just that she was a good listener you could talk to her for hours about anything good bad or indifferent she would always have something you could take away from her and apply to your situation no matter if the situation was light at heart or trying in the moment she could always close with a funny remark she had a fun way of being funny that made her spunky. Her heart was kind but if you cross line she had no problems putting you in line. She had a slew of favorite tv shows from old time shows to reality shows from John Wayne to the housewives. She was a great cook the holiday meals were the best meals. She would always put in quiet time for her studies she was a Jehovah’s Witnesses for 20 years where she was baptized as one of Jehovah witnesses’. She was dedicated to her congregation and would share the word whenever she could she loved her congregation. Danita departed from this life Oct 27, 2019 she was preceded in death by Clara Hicks. She leaves to mourn her father George C Hicks brother George A Hicks the 3rd Gwenevere Johnson (Hicks) and Elliott Hicks three daughters Tanikka Hicks A’lic Hicks and Jasmine Hicks her grandchildren Aleena Hicks Jayveon Hicks and Jonae Hicks and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Danita L. Hicks will be dearly missed, and we will forever cherish her memory
