Candace Fleming

Candace (Candy) Deneen Fleming entered this life on November 4, 1964, at the South Side Hospital of Pittsburgh, PA, the third child of John and Irene Fleming.  She departed this life unexpectedly on October 30, 2017 in the Jefferson Hospital just 3 days shy of her 53rd birthday.

Candy, grew up in a small coal mining town of Clarksville (Pitt Gas), PA until the age of 7.  She then moved to Finleyville, PA until the age of 9 ant then moved Library (now South Park) until adulthood and then for a short period of time lived in Norfolk and Hampton, VA.  She eventually relocated back to Library, where she resided until her death.

Candy, attended Greene County, Ringgold and South Park School Districts and graduated in 1983.  She went on to study business at the Community College of Allegheny County for 2 years.

Candy, had a strong desire to start a family and in 1987 her first child, Crystale Charneece.  She was also blessed with 2 sons, Robert Andrew Isaac Fleming and Myles Alexander Walker.  Her children were her pride and joy.  She was a very loving and caring mother.  Her love and care didn't stop at just her children, she extended that same love to her nieces and nephews (7 total) and even helped raise her sister Robyn's children while Robyn was on active duty in the United States Navy.  She was eventually blessed with one grandchild, Xavier who received this same loving care multiplied  times three.  In later years, she became a caregiver to her ailing father.

Candy, had several health challenges throughout her life and theses health challenges would often prevent from remaining employed.  But despite these challenges, she did work as a teen in retail sales and after some time secured a State Civil Service position as a Psychiatric Aide with Mayview State Hospital where she worked for approximately 6 years and then Jefferson Hospital for 4 years after the downsizing of Mayview.

Candy loved to "turn up" and have fun, with her immediate family, close cousins and friends.  She loved to listen to music and dance.  She had a sense of humor that would make you laugh so hard she would have you in tears.  She and her sister Terri became inseparable; you wouldn't see one without the other.  She enjoyed life until such at time as her health challenges started to become unbearable and she would start to distance herself from some of the things she used to enjoy.

Most importantly, Candy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized along wit her mother and 3 sisters at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. C. H. Byars.  She involved herself in various ministries of church by becoming an usher, a member of the Junior and Mass Choirs under the direction of  Sue Goodson and the late Jack Byars.  She attended the Youth Bible Study under the teachings of the late Eloise Moman and many Vacation Bible Schools.  She knew the importance of having a relationship wit Jesus Christ and shared this with her children who all came to know Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior and also joined various ministries of Mt. Zion.

Candy was preceded in death and will be united with her mother, Irene, and all of her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Candy, leaves to cherish her memory her father, John Fleming, Sr., children, Crystale, Robert and Myles and grandson Xavier.  Five sisters, Cheryl, Patti, Crystale, Robyn and Terri and brother, John Jr.  Uncles, Bennie Gabriel and Rodney Thompson.  Nieces, Kiesha, Xiomara and Joshalyn.  Nephews, Cosean, Christopher, Anthony and Benjamin.  Great nieces, Nyah, Caxias, Sarah, Mia and Amira.  Great Nephews, Jaylen, Marc, Quintin, Kaden and Grayson.  Two brothers-in-love, Aaron Singleton and James Gaiter.  One sister-in-love, Christine Baltes-Jenkins and a special friend Melvin Walker.
