OBITUARY
It was on the sunrise of July 30, 1935, that Byron Craig Sr., the eldest child of W.C. Craig and Louise Craig, first kissed this world. He was born in Limeville, Alabama. He proceeded into eternal rest on September 15, 2019, at 12:11 pm.
As a young child, Byron was full of spirit and aspired to be bigger than life. He received his education through the Pittsburgh School System. As a young adult he had an obvious zest for life and regularly enjoyed a plethora of activities, some of his favorites included; playing baseball, bowling, and roller skating. Byron loved him some cars. Byron also had a great love of music, the bass being his instrument of choice; but he sang as well, at one point he even performed within a 4-man gospel chorus group. When lounging around television shows; he enjoyed watching were Gunsmoke, Hogan’s Heroes, MASH, Rifle Man, and so many more.
Byron was a long-time member at St James Baptist Church, where he sang on the adult choir. As a young professional, Byron lived in Baltimore, MD., and made his living hanging drywall. In his later years when he moved back to Pittsburgh, he worked in Jitney and performed security. He was a worker and worked into his advanced age until he eventually retired from Allied Security. Through his life, he was the best family man he knew to be, caring genuinely for his siblings, many times putting them before his children.
He is preceded in death by brother Paul Dean, mother Louise Craig, sister Carol (Lois) Flynn, father W.C. Craig, and wives: Eunice M Craig, Eula V. Hawkins, and lastly Jean Craig.
