Bernadette Curry Obituary

Bernadette LaVern Chapman-Curry

Our mother Bernadette L. Chapman-Curry received her heavenly wings after numerous victories over illness on May 1, 2019.  Benadette was born September 16, 1956 to Barbara Chapman and William Jeffery in Pittsburgh, PA at Allegheny General Hospital.  Preceded in death by her mother Barbara McGhee and Sister Anita Pleasant.

Bernadette's passion for Life was exhibited in her knitting and crocheting ability, her botanical green-thumb in gardening and her spirit for caring for all those around her.  Her Love for Jazz and Blues along with oldies collections could be heard anytime she felt compelled.  Her children maternal and adopted are her Jewels that she was constantly polishing to make them shine.  A caring shoulder or a stern kick in the pants,.  Bernadette was always consistent with dealing with Family, Friends or Society.  When times got tough we all turned to her no matter the situation she would make time and bring a palatable conclusion.  She leaves to cherish her memory two children:  Gregory McGhee (Goater Sr.), Toron A. Brooks Chapman Sr. (Manny) and wife Cequainne, siblings Charles Chapman Johnson, Gloria Chapman Floyd, Christopher Chatman Sr., Jacqueline Chapman-Kirkland, Byron Minous, insluding Siblings:  Lynn, Michael, George, Patick, Keith and Margaret (Lady Bird) McGhee, Jeffery, Renna, Diane, Christina, Devon, Devon, Jaren.

Grandchildren, La'tazia. Gregory, Marquis, Dajanae, Desean, Sade, Jaimar, Mona, Toron Jr. Robert, Gayonna and Lanika.  Great grandkids Reay Reid, Skylar Jones, Damere Lee, Mili and a host of great nieces, nephews and Special friends.

A warrior through it all she knew God has a plan and her spirit will run through our memories forever.  She was a protector and enforcer who has always been a Beacon Light in our family excelling in education and natural talents, she succeeded in some of life's most challenging circumstances only to rise and shine in her community, church and family.  Excelling in all her endeavors and goals.

A rose to all that carry her spirit and stand for injustice everywhere.  Family remember the beauty of the rose with the thorns of protection, leaves of support, and seeds of roses future.
