On July 12, 1945 Barry L. Colbert was born to Henry B. and Irene V. Colbert in Pittsburgh, PA. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
Barry grew up in Pittsburgh and was educated through the Pittsburgh public schools and graduated from Schenley High School in 1963. After graduation he relocated to Washington DC and worked for Sears and Roebucks for two years. Subsequently, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a Communications Chief.
After his military service he attended the Control Data Institute where he was certified in Programming Technology. He furthered his education and received certifications through the International Right of Way Association and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He worked in various engineering and technical positions that included Union Railroad and became an Outside Facilities Engineering Design Manager for Verizon (Bell Atlantic) until his retirement.
On September 12, 1970, he was united in holy wedlock to Carol Alston. From this union two daughters were born, Monica L. Colbert (Manhattan, NY) and Kimberly Colbert Refosco (Pittsburgh, PA).
Barry enjoyed going to casinos and playing the slots. He loved travelling and visited many locations throughout the US, Mexico and the Caribbean. He was an avid Steelers fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry B. and Irene Pollard Colbert and leaves to mourn his memory: wife, Carol; daughters, Monica and Kimberly (husband Christopher Refosco); grandson, Christopher (CJ) and granddaughter, Trinity; aunt Jessie Parker; uncle, Roderick Colbert; and a host of relatives and friends.
