Barbara L. Clark was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1940. She was the daughter of the late John H. Alston and Helen Lee Alston.

Barbara attended the Pittsburgh Public School system, graduating in 1958 from South Hills High School. She loved antique auctions, house tours, and especially like to find great items on sale. She loved playing volleyball, softball and was an avid lover of art and music. After graduation she attended Duquesne University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education.

Upon graduating from Duquesne University, she began her teaching career with the Pittsburgh Public School system. For over thirty years Barbara was an inspirational, uplifting and engaging teacher whose love for the children was seen through her gift of teaching. She inspired them to be enthusiastic about the joy of learning. Everyday at the end of her classes she closed with the statement, “Let’s Make This a Great For Learning”. She made them feel as though they could accomplish anything. Her favorite quote was, “Don’t limit yourself to the sky when there are footprints on the Moon”. Barbara had a unique way of teaching discipline with dignity. She carried herself with such class, poise and grace which served as an example to both children and adults.

Barbara met and married the love of her life, Dr. Harry D. Clark on July 29, 1967. To this union two beautiful children, Dina Lynn and Teri Lynn were born. Barbara loved her family and enjoyed creating special moments with them.

She enjoyed traveling, meeting people of different cultures and living life to its fullest. Her personality and love for people emitted an immediate trust in her.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017 Barbara departed this life for life eternal.

Fond memories are left to her husband of almost fifty years, Dr. Harry D. Clark; daughters, Dina Lynn Clark and Teri Lynn Carter; grandchildren, Xander, Kaleo, Ryan and Donovan; brother, John H. Alston, Jr.; brotherin-law, Kenneth (Phillis) Clark; sisters-in-law, Althea (Oscar) Worthy, Phyllis (Namon) Joshua and C.
