Allyn Smith Obituary

OBITUARY

Allyn Howard Smith

Allyn was born on May 29, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA and was the son of the late Estella and William Smith, Sr. After a lengthy illness, he was called home on July 30, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Aspinwall.

Allyn graduated from South Hills High School in 1965 and immediately joined the Air Force. He often spoke of his service and was proud to join the ranks of other family members who have served our country. After leaving the military, Allyn returned to Pittsburgh and enjoyed working for the Pittsburgh Port Authority. He then moved to Phoenix, AZ where he received certification as an electronic technician and was employed by Honeywell.

Allyn leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deborah Jones Smith, 5 children: son, Allyn, daughters, Monica, Jowharah (Michael), Rajeeyah, and Aaliyah, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; his sisters, Oteria Cotten (James), Gwendolyn Tyler, Antoinette Higginbotham (Benjamin), and brother, William Smith, Jr. (Debbie) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 16 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017. There will be a Memorial Service from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 17 at The Allegheny, 401 West Commons Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

We are delighted that Allyn was an organ donor and will change the lives of about 50 people. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of kindness during our bereavement. May the Lord bless each of you.
