Brenda Collins Obituary

Elder Brenda Marie Collins came into this world on November 29, 1951. She was one of two children born to the late Anna Marie Brae; she made her triumphant transition to glory with her eyes looking towards Heaven on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

On July 9, 1966, Brenda married Norman Edward-Wayne Collins and was the mother of two children: Dontae Evens and Cecelia Collins.

Brenda was educated through the Pittsburgh Public School System. She received her GED from Connelly Skill Learning Center and her cosmetology license from Franco Beauty Academy. She worked for many years as a nursing assistant throughout the Pittsburgh area and worked as a Case Aide for A Second Chance Inc. until her health no longer permitted.

Elder Brenda Collins was a faithful member of Covenant Whosoever Will Church under the leadership of Bishop Jonathan H. Gamble and Mother Ann Gamble; it was during that time she answered the call of God and pursued her ministry as an Evangelist. She served diligently in various auxiliaries in her local church, from pastor aide president, assistant choir director and many more ministries in the church. She was licensed and ordained as an elder by Bishop Gamble on June 27, 2004. Elder Brenda continued to work in the ministry now under the leadership of Bishop Sarah Adams until her transition.

Elder Brenda was a remarkable, respectable Woman of God. She lived a life that was well pleasing to the Lord; one who loved unconditionally and consistently demonstrated the love of God to those she came in contact with.

We will never forget the woman she was and the life she lived. Her life was one of the greatest definitions of a true soldier of Christ. Her life represented and demonstrated how believers should live the gospel as a true disciple in this world today. When you remember Elder Brenda Collins, you remember the scripture that says "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall I do, because I go unto my Father". John 14:12.

Elder Brenda will be remembered in so many ways, especially her tenacity for the things of God. She was graceful, elegant and without a doubt in a class all by herself. There is no doubt that her legacy followed her to Heaven. We will always remember her for the rest of our days, and we will continue to celebrate her and carry out her legacy eulogizing her.

She is survived by her daughter; Cecelia L. Collins, grandchildren; Donisha Evens, Nina Evens, Christianna Trawick, Danielle Evens, Danyette Evens, Dominic Evens and Dontel Evens, great grandchildren; Jay, Char, Kylie, Dom, Da'MERIE, Tre, Ja'Miah, Najah, Jih, Deric, Dariya, and Alaya Fabiann, uncle; Thomas "Tommy" Jones, aunt; Patricia Matthews Thomas, sisters-in-love Naoma Collins, Anne Nails, Cecelia McBryde, Elena Collins, Belinda Collins and Marlo Igles and brothers-in-love Ruben (Darlene) Collins and Florian (Debra) Collins; her spiritual family Open Doors Family and Community Ministry and a host of family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Norman Edward-Wayne Collins, her mother Anna Marie Brae, brother Anthony (Tony) Evens and son Dontae Evens.
