Willia B. Moore (Mama) was born June 17th, 1922 to the late Arlie Lee Bowens and Claude Jackson in Roanoke, Virginia. Willia was raised by her maternal grandmother Pauline Jackson. She received her education through the Pittsburgh Public School System and graduated from Homestead High School. After extended employment, Willia attended the Connelly Trade Center in 1966 to pursue a career as a “Short Order Cook”. Willia completed her training and received her certificate the same year. Willia expanded her culinary efforts and employment, training throughout the Pittsburgh Community. Beginning at Forbes Pavilion, an Oakland Nursing Facility, the Kosher Kitchen of Montefiore Hospital, and 20 years of employment at Mercy Hospital, where she was head cook and kitchen supervisor until she retired. Retirement was only temporary. Willia began as a participant in a senior employment program. After a year with the Newbridge Geriatric Program, Willia became employed again as a Cook for the Day Treatment Program at Allegheny East in Wilkinsburg. Willia was a devoted and life-long parishioner of the Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered many hours in support of worthy Church causes. Willia was very affectionate about the welfare of her family. As a single mother and sole provider the majority of her years, she (saw-to-it) that her children were well taken care of. Willia was hardworking, passionate and very meticulous about her professional craft; (cooking).She was very energetic, and always displayed a high level of respect and admiration towards her staff, co-workers, and others. 

Throughout her lifetime, Willia has received numerous awards of appreciation for community service and accomplishments. Mama… affectionately known as “Tee” and “Queen B” amongst the family was truly our matriarch! Willia found eternal peace on Saturday, November 12, 2016. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph L. Moore and Son-In-Law, William F. (Frankie) Hunt. Willia leaves to cherish many loving memories: Six children: Betty A. Hunt, Charles Moore (Christine), Eugenia Moore Sheriff (Ahmed), Margaret A. Wood (Rodney), Robert J. Moore (Sheila), Tamara M. Crawford (Clifford), and a host of grand, great-grand and great-great grand children, nieces, nephews and many friends
