On November 14, 2017, Stanley Thomas Blackwell Sr. lost his long battle with lung cancer and was called home to be wit God.

On June 7, 1945, the 5th child of the late James and Norma Blackwell was born.

Stanley received his education from the Pittsburgh Public School system.  Although he attended Westinghouse High School, he obtained his G.E.D. in the 1960's.  He later earned some college credits at CCAC.

He began work at an early age, creating a long list of employers.  A few are: Pittsburgh Urban League, Mail Del and Pittsburgh Job Corps (where he retired from in May 2012, after 20+ years of service).

Stanley had an amazing sense of humor.  He could make anyone laugh.  His hobbies were music, (especially Jazz, old school R&B and a little rap).  Football was his ultimate sport, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers - with his all-time favorite player being Franco Harris #32.  He fell in love with photography in his later years.  He even became a member of a photography club in which he won 2nd place for a picture contest.

After moving to Arizona, Stanley started going to the Tolleson Senior Citizen Center.  This was his escape from being bored in the house.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 24 years, Roberta J. (Duke), his children: Mark Blackwell (51), Roberta A. Duke (45), Stanley T. Blackwell, Jr. (40) and Rami A. Duke (39), along with an abundance of extended children.  He has 3 grandchildren; Davion, Davon and Samantha, as well as 8 great grandchildren; Timothy, Davon, Jai-Shaun, Shayauna, Ray Von, Timara, Laila and Shane, Jr.

"Blackwell" ( a nickname given to him by his grandkids) was fortunate to have a horde of siblings.  James, Carolyn, Eugene and Donna all preceded him in death.  Kenneth (Rosa) Morse, Jacquelynn (Joe) Weathers and Debra (fiancee' Mike) Brister , along with extended family being: Ethel, Walter (Michelle) and Marsha; as well as his 1st wife Rose (Anthony) and his 2nd mother Marcella Duke will continue to keep Stanley's memory in their hearts.

Stanley also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, as well as a plethora of family and friends to carry his memory in their hearts.
