Madeline Shirley Baxter Mitchell was born on December 21, 1926, in Erie, PA.  She was the daughter of the late Thelma Lee Coffey Baxter Davis and Rufus Vosburgh Baxter.  Shirley as she was affectionately known, was the sister to the late Barbara Ann Tardy.

Shirley attended and graduated from East High School in Erie, PA.  Moreover she did two years of college for business at the University of Pittsburgh.

Shirley met and married the love of her life, the late Theodore J. Mitchell, Jr.  To this union three children, Theodore III, Kathleen and Richard were born.  She was a dedicated wife and mother  who enjoyed her family.  She loved being a Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.  Her laughter was infectious and her kind hearted personality was very inviting.  Some of her many hobbies, to name a few, was she loved cooking, baking, crocheting, traveling, Bridge Club Card playing, long time member of the Grandmothers Club and she also enjoyed going to the beach and swimming.  Her favorite color was pink and she loved dressing up and wearing beautiful jewelry.

She was a long time member of "The Church of The Holy Cross".

Shirley worked seven years at McIntyre Bakery where everyone loved her amazing baking.

Om March 17, 2017, Shirley departed this world peacefully.  She was blessed to live 90 wonderful years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister.

She leaves to cherish many wonderful memories to her three children, Theodore J. Mitchell III, Kathleen Mitchell Harris and Richard Vance Mitchell; eight grandchildren, Troy, Kaycee, Ryan, Mitch IV, Ashley, Jacques, Rachael and Grace; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, T.J. Mitchell V, Olivia and Gregory III (G.P.3).  She is also survived by fourteen nieces and nephews.

Shirley's life and legacy will always be remembered.
