Russsell Sims

Russell was born May 16, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pa to Viella and Russell Sims Sr. and transcended on July 11, 2016.

Russell was baptized and received his salvation under the pastoral direction of Bishop Donald O. Clay in 1997.  Russell loved the teaching of Bishop Clay and was a faithful attendant of Petra International Ministries until he succumbed to his illness.

Russell attended Pittsburgh Public schools at Gladstone High School.  He later attended Connelly Trade wit a special category in culinary arts for bakery.  Russell worked at several restaurants as a baker, Russell would subsequent work for Kroger's as an assistant manager until the company left the state.  He worked at UPMC as a floor finisher until his retirement in 1994. 

At the age of 40 Russell took up bowling.  He carried a 225 or better and achieved a perfect score of 300.  He loved sports of all kind, and was a committed Steeler fan.  At one time was a semi pro player for the Homestead Grays.  He recently became a fan of the Stanley Cup winning Penguins.

Russell had few enemies and was liked by most people who knew him, Russell had a quiet and laid back demeanor that made him more tolerant of whatever life through at him.Rarely complained about anything, but loved deeply and was loved equally.  Even at the end Russell was selflessly concerned more about his wife and children than he was about himself.

In July of 1965 Russell married Doris Taylor Harshaw, (the love of his life for 51 years).  Russell also leaves to mourn his brother Elliot Sims and sister Delores Davis.  Children Brenda, Kennith, Kevin Harshaw (Anita Edwards Harshaw) and Regina Washington.  Manford Russell, Darlene, Denise, Devale, and Dwayne Sims.  Grandchildren include Sirod R. Jackson (Lawrence Jackson), Roderica Harshaw, Tamira, Tosha Washington, Craig Doswell, Stephen Green, Leah Green Fisher, Ashley Edwards, Monica Harshaw, Deon Sims, Russell also leaves behind great grand children Shaquala Sirod and London Jackson, Amaya Washington and Tyrenzo Morton, Christian Sims and many more.
