Richard M West

Richard M. West was born on June 16, 1937 in Wilkinsburg, PA. he was born to the late Isaac West and Eleanor Taliaferro. He was the seventh sibling born to ten children, William, Emma, Gilbert, Isaac, James, Stanley, Ada, Margie and Caroline.

He was baptized at an early age at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Richard was educated in the Wilkinsburg School District. After graduating he began a mentorship program with a Plumbing  Company. Richard was very skillful and creative. He was bestowed with the ability to diagnose any plumbing problem and completely resolve the issue. Family and friends were drawn to Richard because of his compassion and love he had for them. There was no problem to hard that Richard could not fix.

In 1960, Richard met the love of his life, Barbara Ward. They were united in marriage on April 15, 1961. To this union four children, Ricky, Debra, Regina and Pamela were born. Richard loved and adored his family. He spent quality time with them as they grew to become successful adults. Being grandfather to eleven grandchildren was his pride and joy. He enjoyed many years of laughter, family cookouts and taking the grandchildren on exciting adventures throughout the city. Richard eas also very blessed to be a proud great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren.

Richard's love and strong sence of family values will serve as a strong force of encouragement to all men who knew him.

On Monday, June 5, 2017, Richard departed this life for life eternal. He was preceded in death by William West, Emma Roebuck, Gilbert West, Stanley West and Caroline Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years Barbara West;  Children, Ricky West of York, PA, Debra Daniel (Moboluwaji) of Austin, Texas, Regina West and Pamela West both of Pittsburgh: eleven grandchildren, Aaron, Aelissa, Brandon, Derrick, Ariel, Brittany, Devon, Desirae. Aja, Alika and Brandy; eleven great-grandchildren, Ayriauna, Akayla, Dorian, Julian, Dalaya, Daymere, Tye're, Anthony, Jaymiah, Nyzere and Daylon; siblings, Isaac West (Nina), James West(Marcel), Ada Frazier, Margie Moon(Luther) and a host  of cousins, niees, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
