James Joseph Armstrong, Jr. was born on October 25, 1948 in Sewickley, PA to the late James Joseph Armstrong, Sr. and the late Maude Saunders-Armstrong.  He departed this earthly Life on July 26, 2017.

James received his early education in West Elizabeth, PA and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1966.  While at Thomas Jefferson, he was an active member of the basketball and football teams.  He received a football scholarship to Cheyney State University.  He furthered his education in Pittsburgh, PA where he received his drafting degree.

After meeting in 1966, James and Bonnie married in 1969 and to this union one daughter, Lesley was born in 1974.

James was employed by Alcoa Aluminum, Pittsburgh Technical Institute and Community College of Allegheny County South Campus.  He and his wife also owned and operated P&B Drafting and Design.  He retired from Eastman Chemical in 2012.

While under the leadership of Pastor James N. Robinson, he was ordained as a deacon and later accepted a calling into the ministry.  Rev. Armstrong obtained his doctorate of divinity from Liberty University.  He was a part of the music ministry at First Baptist Church where he sang with the choir and played the drums.  He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling and family gatherings.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Bonnie of Gastonville, PA; daughter Rev. Lesley Baltimore (Dea. Tyran); granddaughter Arayah Baltimore all of Finleyville, PA; sisters, Ethyl Felton and JoAnn Griffin of Harrisburg, PA; sister-in-law, Janice Briscoe of Gastonville, PA; brother-in-law Herman Briscoe of Columbus, OH; uncle and aunt in love, Howard and Joyce Saunders of Pittsburgh, PA as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
