Purnell Gibson, Jr.

Purnell Gibson, Jr. was born March 11, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA to Mary Moore and Purnell Gibson, Sr.

He attended the Pittsburgh Public Schools graduating from Westinghouse Senior High School.  His family attended St. James A .M.E. Church of East Liberty.  Purnell was baptized at an early age and remained a member of St. James until he passed on February 6, 2018.

Throughout his life he worked various jobs.  Pittsburgh Railways, J & L Steel and Bellman of Westin Hotel.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 40 years Carol Gibson, and his four daughters, Vickie Kellem, Kathryn Gibson, Juanita Jackson (Ronald) and Flora Raiford; four granddaughters, Amicia, Chantel, Carmella, Brittany; two grandsons; Joel (Laurie) and Milton; four great grandchildren, Joel, Jada, Ibraheim and Isabella; a sister, Mary Strine Wright, a dear cousin, Melvin Gibson, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Purnell was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Moore and Purnell Gibson, Sr. and his sister, Betty Gibson.
