Margaret Ann DeHonney departed this temporal life in preference to life eternal on November 16, 2016 after a battle with lung cancer and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Margaret was born on February 10, 1947 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late George Jones and the late Dora Mae Jones.

Margaret's family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1952, where she was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System and became a proud graduate of Westinghouse High School in June 1965. As a child, Margaret wanted to grow up to be a secretary, and after graduating high school she secured a clerical position at J&L Steel Mill. She worked there briefly until she met and married her beloved Jan Michael DeHonney. From this union two daughters were born, Dawn and Dana. Sadly, Margaret and Jan later divorced, however, the love and bond that they shared would continue throughout both of their lives.

After her children were of age, she began working for the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission as Secretary to the Director. It was during this time that Margaret took the initiative to study computers and computer programs. Through curiosity, determination and perseverance, a new and exciting career would soon arise for her. Within a few years, she went from secretary to Information Technology (IT) Specialist, and provided technical service and training to the staff at the Commission. Due to her declining health, after working there for 33 years she retired.

Margaret loved the Lord deeply. At a young age Margaret was taught to love the Lord. She was first baptized at Mount Ararat Baptist Church when she was a child. in adulthood, she became a member of Mount Ararat and was baptized a second time. As she grew older, she developed a personal relational with God. Throughout her life and declining health, Margaret always gave God the glory. Her faith was strong.

Margaret loved her family deeply. There was nothing that she would not do for or give to her family. Whether it be love, encouragement,support...she remained selfless at all times. Margaret was proud of her family, and she never passed up an opportunity to share in their accolades. Nothing they accomplished was too small. It was important to her. She cherished spending time with her family during family game night, drinking coffee over conversation, going out to eat, or anytime that family could be together. Margaret considered her pets as part of the family and she loved them deeply, too.

Margaret had many passions, and she spent much of her life engaging in what made her happy. She greatly loved to travel to tropical locations with beautiful blue water, to various craft shows and vacationing in general. She played the violin and piano, listened to all kinds of music, particularly classical and doo-wop. Margaret was extremely creative and loved the Arts.

She had a passion for language and writing, and it was this talent that allowed her to create and write poetry. Margaret was extremely proud that several pieces of her poetry were published.

Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers James Edloe Arnette and Harry Miller Arnette.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Dawn Tomlin(Chelle) and Dana DeHonney; sisters Virginia M. Harris ((Ferris) and G. Carolyn Dorsey (Neil); four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
