Leroy Allen

Leroy Allen passed peacefully from this life the evening of September 10, 2016 after a gradual decline of health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life. Leroy , the youngest son to the late Roy and Hattie Allen was born in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania on August 9, 1928. Leroy moved to Gretna, Virginia at a very young age where he was lovingly raised by his grandmother. 

In February 1951 Leroy married the late Dorothy Smith also of Gretna, Virginia. He and his bride moved back to Pittsburgh in 1952 and they were blessed with 7 children, namely Elaine (Ronald) Foster, Donald (Dolores) Allen, Perry Allen, Michael (Evonne) Allen, Brian (Kelly) Allen, David (Lori) Allen and the late Margie (Willie) Oakley.

Leroy was a dream employee as he was a very dedicated worker who spent many years working at a bakery and then as a mechanic in a transmission shop until his retirement. The stron work ethic he instilled in his children is one of his greatest legacies.

Leroy enjoyed many pastimes such as gardening, hunting, fishing but watching westerns in TV was his all-time favorite.

Leroy was preceded in death by his brothers; Russell, Eugene, Emmett G., Howard, Clyde ans sister Ruby Wright. Those remaining to celebrate his wonderful oresence include 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and loving relatives and friends.
