Kenneth Hillard

On July 9, 1963 Kenneth O. Hillard was born to Elisha and Essie Hillard. Kenneth, affectionately known as "Moose" because he was big for his size as a youth grew up in the Homewood area of Pittsburgh Pa where he attended and graduated from Westinghouse High School.

While in 11th grade, Kenneth met and fell in love with Valerie Jones and on May 17, 1986 he and his high school sweetheart were married. From this union three children were born: Jamour Anthony, Kenneth Orlando, Jr., and Solita Ashley. "Moose " was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he loved his family.

"Moose' loved the Lord. He joined Christ Missionary Baptist, accepted Christ, and was baptized there. As a member of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, he served on the Usher Board and the Nurse's Board ntil joining New Bethel Baptist Church in 2013 where he was a member up until he departed this temporal life.

"Moose" worked for the University of Pittsburgh for thirteen years as a catering chef and moved on from there to work for Chatham College. He enjoyed cooking, especially on the grill. With very high energy, he moved as if he had jets on his feet and whatever he did, it was up tempo. He had no time to be slow! "Moose" had an unforgettable personality and he will be missed by all, old and young.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Winston Hillard. He leaves to mourn his memory: his loving  wife of 30 years, Valerie Hillard; his 3 children: Jamour A. Hillard, Kenneth O. Hillard, Jr. (Tina) and Solita A. Hillard (Joseph); his mother Essie Hillard; his father Elisha Hillard; his sister: Rose Mary Weaver (Dewayne) his brother Oscar Hillard (Carla); his grandchildren: Janea Hillard, Keyana Hillard, Jamour Hillard Jr., Amya Hillard, Antonio Aquiline and Aliya Sansom; his aunts: Maxine Parker and Betty Parker; his uncle: Henry Parker; his 2 God-sons: Daniel Brown and Exavier Giles, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews ,relatives and friends.
