June R. White, was born to Marie and Courtney Cottrell, on October 25, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. June was called home by the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 1:10 p.m. at Shadyside Hospital. June was raised in the Hill District section of the City, educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System, and graduated with her diploma from Fifth Avenue High School. Throughout her lifetime, June held various jobs with Zayres Department Store, Pennley Apartments, Dr. Silverburg, Dr. Gerald Josephson (DMD), Montefiore Hospital and she finally decided to retire from the workforce from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in 2003. June married her first husband, Levy R. Davis and then later on in life, June met and married Albert P. White.

June loved life and loved being there in any and all capacities to help those who needed her. Her children meant everything to her and she made sure that they all knew she loved them with all that made her who she was. June was always giving and she would give the last of what she had no matter what it was. Her greatest joy came from giving to others and she was the most selfless person anyone would ever want to meet.

June gave to others up to the very end of her long and full life by showing appreciation to the staff at Shadyside Hospital during this last hospital stay. After her surgery a few days before her passing, she was so appreciative of the attention and care that was shown to her, she purchased dinner for the entire nursing staff. What bought Joy to June’s heart, was making others feel good.

One of June’s favorite pass-times was watching wrestling, particularly, the WWE. She thoroughly enjoyed watching wrestling and discussing the many antics of the wrestlers with her grandchildren, great grandchildren or anyone who showed interest. She loved purchasing the Wrestlemania events while inviting her great grandchildren over to watch it with her.

June enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren for which she had many. June had a total of 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. June had 10 beautiful children to whom she gave her all and she is survived by 9. June had only 1 daughter and she was the oldest, Donna (Kenny) and their bond was like no other. June had 9 sons.. Robert, Vernon (Cynthia), Levy (Gloria), Maurice (Fufu), Albert Jr. (Fella), Darrell (Sweetie), Gary, Marvin (Crystal) and her late son, Eric (Fuzz). June is also survived by a host of other family members.

June was preceded in death by her mother, Marie, father, Courtney, husband, Albert, her son Eric, her grandson, Steve, her twin sister, Jean, her sisters Virginia and Helena, and her brothers Billy and Albert. June was a warm and loving woman who will be missed and forever remembered in our hearts and minds. To be absent from the body is to be present in the Lord.
