Obituary

James "Peanut" Tucker was born on August 23, 1949 in Jackson, Alabama.  He was the only child born to the late Mary and Amos Tucker.

He relocated at an early age with his parents and attended the Pittsburgh Public schools graduating from Westinghouse High School in 1968.  After graduation James enlisted in the United States Army PFC.  He was trained as a cook and served three years in Germany from 1969 to 1971.  After completing his years of service he was honorably discharged.

Continuing to do what he enjoyed most James attended the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) studying to be a Chef' in their Culinary Apprentice Program.  After receiving his education and credentials James did his internship at West Penn Hospital.

In 1972, James met the love of his life, Patricia Cephas.  On November 22, 1983 the two united in holy matrimony and thus the love story began.  To this union two children, Charity and Alton were raised.  James also had  a very close and special relationship with his oldest daughter, Lisa.  James loved and enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his grandchildren.  They had a special key to his heart.  The joyous moments spent in time with him will serve as beautiful memories as his legacy continues.  At the time of his departure they celebrated thirty six (36) years of marital bliss.

James was employed at the West Penn Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Shop N Save, and the Lexus Club at PNC Park.

Cooking was his specialty.  James was the city's best kept secret.  He was the family grill master.  While grilling his famous ribs, the blues by BB King could be heard through-out the neighborhood.

James also enjoyed traveling with Patricia back to Alabama to visit his family and friends.  Pulling the slot machine handles was another favorite past time of his.

On September 20, 2016 James departed this life for life eternal.  He was preceded in death by his cousin, Gloria Taylor.

Left to continue his legacy of love and happiness, are his wife, Patricia Ann Tucker of Pittsburgh, PA; children, Lisa Tucker of Baltimore, MD, Charity Allesberry of Pittsburgh, PA and Alton Allesberry, Jr., of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Alton III, and Ashley Ann Allesberry (Terrell Roberson) and Jamall Allesberry-Mattox; great grandson - Terrell "T-Bird Roberson; his sibling/cousins, Sylvester "Buck" Taylor and Glenda Vendrell; sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Richard Mosley and Gaston (Roxie) Cephas; uncle, Walter Daffinn of Alabama; aunt, Betty Jean Moore of Alabama; trusted friend Rick Davis and a host of other relatives and many friends.
