Gwendolyn Loraine (Talton) King

Gwendolyn King, the daughter of the late Jacob and Bertha (Harper) Talton was born on November 11, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA.  She peacefully departed this life on January 1, 2018.

She was reared in Homewood Brushton and graduated from Westinghouse High School.  In 1960, she was united in marriage to the late Houston Ivey King, Jr. and from this union three children were born.

Gwendolyn was a woman of faith.  She spent most of her life as a member of the Nazarene Baptist Church.  At the time of her death she was a member of Gethsemane Ministries in Wilkingsburg, PA.

Gwendolyn was employed at a variety of different jobs.  She worked as a cook, seamstress and a domestic worker.  However, she found most pleasure in being a homemaker and raising her children.

During the mid-1960's, Gwendolyn relocated to Seattle, Washington where her husband was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company as a mechanic.  Before returning to Pittsburgh in 1967, they celebrated the birth of their only daughter, Charlotte King.

Gwendolyn will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jacob Talton, Sr., and sisters Jacqueline Corbett and Delores Walker.  She leaves to mourn, sons Jerome King, John King (Yvette), daughter Charlotte King, grandchildren Assata Muhammad, John Ivey King, Jr., Amir Muhammad, Malika King, Ashanti Grisham and great grandsonn Stephon Eric Jones-PAge, Jr.
