Eva Jane Harris

Eva Jane Harris was born on December 18, 1932 in BECKLEY, West Virginia. She was the third child of four siblings born to the late LENA MAHAN and JOHN ALLEN SMITH. Eva Jane attended Stratton High School where she excelled in the Theater Arts and was often chosen for the leading roles. Eva Jane was also the Lead Majorette of the school band throughout her High School years. In 1951, Eva Jane Smith moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she married Albert David Wright, Sr. To this union she lovingly birthed three children: Albert David Wright, Jr., Steven Elliott Wright, and Eva Marie Wright. A committed Wife and Mother, Eva Jane was the anchor and rock solid foundation of the family. Instilling in her children the importance of independence and self reliability, by sharing what you have with others, acceptance of all was a major life lesson taught by Eva Jane. Skilled as a professional seamstress in an era when fashion was a part of everyday life, her talented and artistic skills created and provided many with beautiful, timeless couture apparel. The ONE whose door was open to all, Eva Jane will always be remembered for her quick wit, sharp tongue and happy-go-lucky spirit. Out front and open, she unselfishly delighted in showering her family, friends, and neighbors with delicious, mouth watering dishes and her famous dinner rolls and sweet potato pies, highlighting her exquisite cooking skills and entertainment passion. Raised in the church, Eva Jane was well respected, loved, and admired. Not exclusive to family, her loving, tender care extended throughout the entire community. Affectionately known as "Mom" to many, for 13 years, she was a school crossing guard with the Penn Hills School District. Eva Jane married her second husband Alfred (Pree) Harris, Jr. of West Mifflin, PA, where she resided for thirty-seven years. She was preceded in death by Mr. Harris in 1992. Eva Jane was also preceded in death by her two sisters Dorothy Moss and Gladys Wilson. Her late grandson Albert David Wright III passed away at the tender age of eighteen in March of 2000. Eva Jane Harris leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Eva Marie Wright, Steven Elliott Wright, Albert David Wright Sr, her granddaughter Eva Cheryl Wright, two great-grand children Alexander Reams and Leila Gabrielle Wright, nieces and nephews of the Smith and Wright families, and many Beloved neighbors and friends.
