Obituary

Eugene Harold Darby was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 14, 1925 to the late Eugene Sr. and Lucy Darby.  He was the oldest of eight siblings: Robert, Theodore, Reginald, Leonard, Rudolph, Delores, Kenneth, and Cynthia.

Eugene attended the Pittsburgh Public School System and on August 22, 1946 he completed the Veterans Training Program at Oliver High School.

He enlisted and served in the United States Army and United States Air Force where he played the Trumpet in the Air Force band.  He was honorably discharged and began working at the United States Post Office.  After 35 years of employment he retired.

Eugene attended the Greater Bethlehem Temple Church, 404 Paulson Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under the leadership of the late Bishop F.M. Thomas.  In 1954, he was Baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus and received the gift of the Holy Ghost.  He served on the Deacon Board and was a member of the Radio Choir, Usher Board, and Dining room staff.  He will always be remembered for his lead song, "There Will Be A Brighter Day".

In 1958, Deacon Darby met and married Lillie Mae Jacobs and together they raised four children, Deborah, Sheradine, Turhan and Aronette Jacobs.  Sadly, on August 13, 2002, Sister Lillie Darby transitioned to be with the Lord.

After years of faithful and dedicated service at the Great Bethlehem Temple Church Deacon Darby joined the Bethlehem Temple Apostolic church, Duquesne, Pennsylvania under the pastoral leadership of the late Suff. Bishop Nathan McAllister, Sr.

Seeing the leading and guidance the Lord, on December 2, 2002, Deacon Darby married Deaconess Lil Robinson.  After their marriage Deacon Darby decided to join Rapha Ministries of the Apostolic Faith Church where Deaconess Lil served for many years as Deaconess and Usher Board President.

Excited about his new journey he gladly served as Deacon and was faithful to the Rapha Ministry Church.  The Rapha Family enjoyed hearing Deacon Darby "Blow the Trumpet." Not even age could stop his "PRAISE".

Deacon Darby enjoyed witnessing to people and before his health failed him he would walk to the Forbes Hospital from his home sharing the good news of Jesus Christ to anyone he encountered.  His neighbors were impressed by his friendly and Godly personality.

Deacon Darby loved to eat and was spoiled by Deaconess Lil Darby's cooking.  At any given time when you visited their home, Deacon Darby would be scene sitting in his favorite spot, "the dinning room table" enjoying whatever meal Deaconess Darby had cooked that day.

Remembering Deacon Darby's favorite scripture, "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you fautless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy."  Jude 24:25 we are confident that his Godly Life served as an instrument used by God to win souls for the Kingdom.

On Monday, October 17, 2016, Deacon Eugene Harold Darby departed this life at the Forbes Regional Hospital.  H eas preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Theodore, Reginald, Leonard, Rudolph, and Kenneth Darby.

Left to  cherish his memory his loving wife of almost fourteen years, Lil Darby; children, Deborah King (grandchildren, Erick King, Derek (Nicole) King, Carlton (Everlyn) King; Sherdine Johnson (grandchildren, Michelle (Victor) Stewart, Tiffany Bennett, Courtney (Mark) Johnson; Turhan (Lisa)  Jacobs, (grandson, Turhan (Brandy) Coleman); Aaronette (Leon) Howell (grandchildren, Leonette McKay and Samilla Howell); step-children, Tony (Debra) Robinson (grandchildren, Anthony, Alex, Telah, Shakelah, Laylah, Marcus & Joshua Robinson), Gail (Otis) Mills (grandchildren, Marlon, Michael (Angle) & Monique Mills), Arron Robinson (granddaughter, Princess), Lezlee Hunter (grandchildren, Todd, Troy, & Tara Hunter) (grandchildren, Cecily Robinson & Crystal Givner), Michael Robinson (grandchildren, Lynn, Dymond, Dontae, Karley, & Lynia Robinson); and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many saints and friends.
