Dorothy Wynn

    Dorothy Gray Whittington Wynn peacefully passed on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she was born on November 3, 1926, to Robert and Illa C. Whittington.  She was one of eight children and a mother of one.

Dorothy Gray was educated in the Duquesne School System where she graduated from high school in 1943.  She went t study at the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and graduated as a licensed beautician.  She began her career at Christiine Johnson's Beauty Salon and retired from Mariam's Beauty Salon six decades later.  She had a loyal following of clients throughout the Pittsburgh area whose hair she lovingly pressed and curled for more than 60 years.

   Dorothy Gray married Harrison Paul  "Sonny"  Wynn and she had one daughter, Dorita.

Dorothy Gray was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church in Duquesne at a very young age.  After moving yo Pittsburgh, she joined Baptist Temple in Homewood where, along with her sisters, Maxine Love-Williams and Robertine Phoenix a  remained loyal lifelong member.  She Loved The Lord.

Dorothy was a loving and caring daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many.  She was kind, respesctful and generous and had a sense of humor.  She was well known for her love of beautiful clothing and leather accessories and her passion for football.  As a dedicated mother, she passed those traits onto her daughter.

   Dorothy Gray was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, Ressell Thompson, Alfretta Ribbron, Amie Shaw and Elizabeth Anderson.

   She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Dorita; sisters, Robertine Phoenix and Maxine Love-Williams; her only brother, Donald Whittington and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
