Donna Johnson Obituary

Donna M. Johnson, was born to June Hill and Edward Farrington on December 27, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA.  Donna was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, April4, 2018 at 5:55 a.m. at Shadyside Hospital.

Donna was raised in the Hill District section of the City, educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System and graduated with her diploma from Schenley High School.  Throughout her lifetime, Donna held various jobs with Volkswagen, Dr. Silverburg and finally retired from Children's Hospital in 2017 where she worked for 22+ years.  Donna married her first husband, Lewis Clark and then later on in life, Donna met and married Kenneth R. Johnson.

Donna loved life and loved being there in any and all capacities to help those who needed her.  Donna loved her 3 children and they meant the world to her.  She always went above and beyond to make sure that they always had what they needed.  Donna was a giving woman with a huge heart, and was always opening her heart and home to those who needed a place to call home.  Donna was the oldest of 10 children and the only girl which made her have a tough exterior, but her heart was made of gold.

One of her favorite past-times was shopping at Walmart and Sam's Club several times a month.  This was her favorite thing to do, no-one ever wanted to go with her because they knew it would turn into an all day outing.  It was the joke of the household and if you were chosen to go with her it was always met with a sigh, because we knew that our plans for the day would be postponed.  Rivers Casino was also another of her favorite past-times.  She would go and sit for hours and it brought a smile to her face especially when she would hit on her favorite machine.

Donna and her husband Kenny, along with her daughter Kim, gained custody of their 6 grandchildren in 2002.  She knew it would be a huge task to care for 6 children, all under the age of 6.  However, they opened up their home and raised them as if they were their own.  Donna nurtured them up until the day the Lord called her home.  She enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren and 1 great grandson, in which she truly enjoyed being around.  She was excited about expecting her 2nd great grandchild in October 2018.  Donna had a total of 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Donna had 3 beautiful children; Steven, Lewis (Adina) and Kimberly (Rasheed), to whom she gave her all.  Donna had a very special relationship with her daughter Kim, whom she affectionately called Ag, which was short for Agnes.  She was so proud of her two sons during their high school football careers because they both played for 2 different schools and played against each other in a championship game.  She smiled from ear to ear wearing colors for Westinghouse and Perry High school to represent both her sons on opposite sided of the ball.

Donna is also survived by her brothers, Robert, Vernon (Cynthia), Levie (Gloria), Maurice, Albert, Darrell, Gary and Marvin (Crystal).  Donna was preceded in death by her biological father, Edward, her mother and father, June and Albert White, her eldest son Steve and her youngest brother, Eric.

Donna was a warm and loving woman who will be missed and forever remembered in our hearts and minds.  To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
