Beverly Strodes
June 10, 1933 ~ July 7, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years OldThe sun gloriously rose for Beverly C. Strodes on June 10, 1933. The sun quietly set for her on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at her residence.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the sixth of seven children born to the late John Hall Sr. and Ida Mae Hall. She was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system where she graduated from Peabody High School.
Beverly was united in holy matrimony to Garland Strodes and to this union, one son, Daryl, was born. Under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. C. A. Burrell, she joined Mount Ararat Baptist Church at an early age where she remained a faithful member until the time of her death. She attended service regularly until illness curtailed her activity.
She was employed by the United States Postal Service at the downtown Pittsburgh branch, and she enjoyed her membership in the social club, The Red Hat Society.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Strodes, two brothers and two sisters; Robert Gibbs, Lucille Beasley, Alfred Hall and Marion Germany Lawrence.
Surviving are her son, Daryl Strodes (Marta); John Jr. (Myrtle) and Alexander "A.D." Hall (Alice); two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; Howard Strodes (Meltzetta) and Walter Beasley; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
