Bernard Castleberry

Bernard Castleberry was born in Greenville, Alabama on March 18, 1933 to parents Florence and Jerry Castleberry.  Bernard survived his siblings, Nettie Hogue, Robert Castleberry, and Mary Hart.  

Bernard was very family oriented and would brighten up when surrounded by them.  He was always a happy person who loved to joke around. He was famous for designating his loved ones with legendary nicknames. Bernard was an avid sports fan.Every morning, Bernard would enjoy his coffee and review all of the highlights in the sports section of the daily newspaper. He was most notably a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bernard moved to Pittsburgh at the early age of 5 years.  Hegraduated from Fifth Avenue High School in 1952. He then went on to join the US Army.  Upon his departure from the Army, he was employed and later retired from the US Postal Service. Bernard married Barbara Woods in 1957 and they were blessed with four children.

On October 5, 2017, Bernard was called home by our Lord and Savior where he will join with his beloved son, Kerry Castleberry.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Kenneth Castleberry (Jean), Keith Castleberry and Karen Castleberry Walker, and daughter in law Larette Castleberry; grandchildren, Daniel Castleberry (Jessica), Deanna Walker, Brandon Castleberry, Kerry Castleberry, Chandler Castleberry, Kayla Castleberry and Keira Castleberry;  his great grandchildren, Layla Castleberry, Danni Castleberry, DemitriCastleberry and Alea Castleberry.

Bernard is also survived by his sister in law Dorothy Castleberryand a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
