Andrew Louis Dent,  Jr. was born on Sunday, July 28th, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to the union of Andrew L. Dent, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth ( Healson) Dent. The family moved to the Homewood area of Pittsburgh and united with Baptist Temple Church when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized.

Andrew attended Baxter Elementary School. This is where he meet Janice L. Pack. He went on to attend Westinghouse High School where he played on the football team that won the city championship in 1947. Andrew received football  scholarship offers, however he chose to stay home and help with family obligations.

In September of 1951, he married his childhood friend and high school sweetheart, Janice (Pack) and their union blessed them with one son, Andrew L Dent III.

It was also during the early 50's that he joined the Army National Guard pf Pennsylvania. He continued to serve when his unit became active during the Korean War and until completing his contract, receiving an honorable discharge. After returning too Pittsburgh, he began what became a 40+ years career in municipal government with the Borough of Wilkinsburg.

During the 50"s, Andrew's hobbies included bowling and playing softball. He developed a passion for golf that remained with him throughout his life. In the 60's he became a member of the " Dandy Duffers Golf Club" later to become the Pittsburgh Duffers where he soon developed a winning golf game. In addition to representing the Duffers in friendly rivalries with golf clubs in other cities, he became on of the founding members of the "Steel City Golf Club".

With Steel City, Andrew was part of a group of golfers who traveled to, and sponsored golf tournaments in a number of locations. Including the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and Spain. He was also a frequent player and later an official at the Annual "neck Bone" Golf tournament in Miami, Florida.

Also during the sixties, Andrew became a member of the Prince Hall Masons. Toward the mid-1980's after having served as code enforcement and building inspector, Andrew was appointed to the position of Wilkinsburg Bourough Manager, a position he held until his retirement in the mid-1990's which afforded him the opportunity to pursue his passion for golfing.

In 1999 ans again in 2001, after what he thought was a "long" wait , he became much to his joy....A Grandparent.

Not one to sit still very long , Andrew also held several : retirement" jobs. Most enjoyable to him was driving a school bus for special needs children . He drove the bus, intil illness prevented him from doing so. But, GOLFING was still on the agenda.

Thanks to good friends, Andrew was able to continue golfing until the last of his years of life.

As his illness (Parkinson's) progressed, and his needs increased, Andrew became a patient at the Aspinwall VA. Being at the VA wa a breath of life for him, his health and enjoyment of life rebounded more than could have been expected. ee founded new passions: playing bingo, eating and driving his motorized scooter through the halls of the VA.

On Thursday, September 15, 2016, Andrew passed peacefully in his sleep. Leaving us to Mourn his Passing.......And.......To Celebrate His Life
