Alfonso Irving

Alfonso Irving, affectionately known as "Al" and "Top" was born in Rankin, Pennsylvania on December 16, 1937 to James and Marie Irving(deceased).

He attended school in Swissvale, Pennsylvania and enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1955, where he served his country for 20 as a Missile and Artillery Sergeant.  He retired as a First Sergeant and went on to help others by pursuing a career in security that ended at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania.

He was a family man. On occasions he spent time fishing, touring the city with his grandchildren and faithfully (and we mean "faithfully") playing the lottery. Al was also known for making conversation with friends and anyone he knew...and didn't know. He was a "people person".

Al is survived by hs wife, Roxie Ann Irving of Penn Hills, PA and five daughters: Wanda Irving-Johnson of Philadelphia, PA., Jeannie Riles-Pratt (William) of Middletown, DE, Bonita Richardson (Kevin) of Penn Hills, PA, Kelly Pipkin (Todd) of Fort Mill, SC, and Karen Irving-Debow (Wayne Earl) of Penn Hills, PA. HE also leaves behind his brothers, Raymond Irving of Virginia Beach, VA and Edward Irving of Penn Hills, PA. He was preceded in death by his brothers James, Robert and Melvin Irving. His memory will continue through his eight grandchildren: Roxanne Knox (Malik), Lloyd Johnson, Stephanny Johnson, Aaron Richardson,Andre Richardson, Camille Debow, Isaiah Pipkin, Kckenzie Pipkin, and two great grandchildren; Aubrey Knox and Serene Cooper-Johnson as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
